July 19, 2008 Joan Cartwright is one of the best vocal musicians, songwriters in our country today and some of the songs written by her will some day be Anthems for us to live by.SK
July 22, 2008 Joan, I found your autobiography to be fascinating and engrossing with an impressive photo collection of musicians who have touched your life. I am so proud of you for what you've done with your life since we first met 3 decades ago. I especially admire your discipline in doing the hard work that has resulted in publishing an important resource book--specifically, your process of becoming the consummate singer/entertainer that you are--generally, it's a value as a guide for how aspiring singers can survive and succeed in the music business.

Joan is a
visionary entrepreneur who is a veteran performer and pioneer in the Women's
Jazz Movement. She has organized festivals and educational programs
worldwide as well as in her immediate vicinity of South Florida. Her
presentations have been well received by her diverse audiences as enjoyable
and educational. She has been a cutting edge advocate for Women in Jazz
representing the movement in Europe, China and throughout the U.S. She had
also built bridges between jazz and hip hop on CD, the internet and in
person. I recommend her as a consultant, speaker, performer, historian, and
educator of the highest caliber. Nelson

Wow! There is so much knowledge being
given in this book. Itreminds me of a music textbook. I'm finding it
very informative and it's nice to have a lot of the pictures that I did not
get from our trips.

Joan's book is entertaining from beginning to
end. I could feel the warmth of her family history and hear her singing in
the songs she wrote. I could hear her voice singing "A Woman Knows".
Imust say Joan could not have done better, for it's her, all the way. I
applaud Joan and wish her luckin allher travels on this earth, for we
only pass this way once.

I have known Joan Cartwright for over 25 years. When she told me that her book was
finished and was to be published,I could hardly wait to buy it and
read it, as I was so proud and excited, too.
In Pursuit of a Melody is
an insightful journey through the life and musical
experiences of Joan Cartwright. She has skillfully painted the pages
with an in-depth and detailed pallet of colorsthat could only be
brought forth through her vast experiences. The way in which she has interwoven
the titles and lyrics of songs throughout the chapters is
just ingenious and, of course, her compositions are diverse and
soulful.
Joan Cartwright is a mother, performer, singer, traveler and writer of music and books.
She has a most wonderful story to tell and share.

Joan’s book exemplifies the
phrase, “Reading can take you on a journey.” You are actually on a whirlwind
of traveling and visiting exciting places, engaging in fantastic activities.
So many wonderful musicians, singers, talented people have touched Joan’s
life .Oh! The pictures tell their own story as they appear full of love of
each other and of their professions. The family pictures display the warmth
of loving, devoted people. As you read, you want to read faster to get a
glimpse of what is next. Wonderful reading and beautiful pictures!
